Assassin� en pleine rue � Maputo le 22 novembre 2000, Carlos Cardoso �tait consid�r� comme un des meilleurs journalistes du pays. Mozambicain d’origine portugaise, il dirigeait depuis 1997 le Metical, journal reconnu pour son s�rieux et son ind�pendance. Presque deux ans jour pour jour apr�s le meurtre, le proc�s des six hommes accus�s de l’assassinat s’ouvrait � Maputo. Pendant trois mois, ce proc�s a tenu en haleine l’ensemble de la population mozambicaine, faisant se succ�der les r�v�lations sur les liens entre l’�lite politique et les r�seaux mafieux et criminels. Dans un jeu subtil entre le pouvoir, les bailleurs de fonds et la soci�t� civile, l’affaire Cardoso est devenue un � cas � unique dans l’histoire du pays et du continent africain.

Exatamente dois anos depois do assassinato, o julgamento dos seis homens acusados do hom�cidio come�ava em Maputo. Durante tr�s m�ses, a popula��o mo�ambicana accompanhou o processo, com suas revela��es successivas sobre os la�os entre a elite pol�tica e as redes criminais. Murdered in the middle of a street in Maputo on November 22, 2000, Carlos Cardoso was considered as one of the best journalists of the country. A Mozambican of Portuguese origin, he was the head of the Metical since 1997, a journal known for its seriousness and independence. Almost exactly two years after the murder, the process of the six men accused of the murder was beginning in Maputo. During three months, this process hold the whole of the Mozambican population’s attention, with a succession of revelations about the links between political elite and criminal groups. In a subtle confrontation between power, financial backers and civil society, Cardoso�s case became a unique � case � in the history of the country and of the African continent.
